In short, S3D has better preview on sliced object where ideaMaker has better user interface/workflow for working on different Profiles in OWLplane subjective opinion. After having experience utilizing ideaMaker, both S3D and ideaMaker Slicers are used since both having the same required features and easy to use.
Initially, OWLplane only utilize S3D during development time. Only LW-PLA and “Digital Balsa and Foam” model series should be printed with LW-PLA type of filament. No difference when printing with LW-PLA for both 0.30mm and/or 0.4mm nozzle. Nozzle size is 0.30mm – 0.40mm, best with 0.30mm for PLA. LW-PLA filament can be printed with both 0.3mm and/or 0.4mm nozzle.ģD Printer volume min. You may notice that the result will have 20% – 30% less weight with regular PLA or PLA+. If you have 0.4mm Nozzle, you may want to try G-code files for 0.3mm nozzle and see if the Nozzle still can print with acceptable quality. G-code files are provided for you to start with both 0.3mm and 0.4mm nozzle.
Profile files are provided for your Direct Drive and Bowden printer setup for both 0.3mm and 0.4mm nozzle but only for PLA and/or LW-PLA (for other filaments, just update the temperature Profile files accordingly and follow manufacture setting recommendation). Once you have downloaded, you can start printing your plane with filaments that you choose such as PLA, ASA, ABS, HIPS and LW-PLA (note: not all parts are suitable printing using LW-PLA/ePLA-LW and depending on the models).
